Year Running: 2015/2016
Credit level: F7
Pre-requisites   MEC301
Co-requisites   None
Additional Information   Restricted to students registered for Programmes of Study within the Faculty of Engineering

Description

The aim of the module is to introduce the theory and practice of signal processing as applied in Mechanical Engineering situations. The objective of signal processing procedures is to allow useful information to be derived from measured data. It is central to experimental anlysis across engineering, with this course developing the techniques in a sound and vibration context. The course builds on elementary concepts to which the student has already been exposed and provides the necessary background for further study of advanced topics. Emphasis is placed firmly upon discrete-time processing of random signals.
